Bad Hair Day – Bed Head Solutions

I wanted to share with you some of my favourite fixes from Bed Head for a bad hair day. Autumn is my worst season for wind swept hair… and while I can’t change the weather, I can use these tools for a little extra help.

AFTER PARTY: Use this smoothing cream after styling for immaculate looking hair.

SUPERSTAR: Volumising Leave in conditioner for those winter tangles. I give my wet hair a good spritz and brush with my Tangle teezer.

HEADRUSH: Super shine in a can. This is the ultimate pick me up for healthy looking hair.

EGO BOOST: Leave in conditioner for taming fly aways and while you can’t fix fuzzy split ends, you can make them look a little better.

Be prepared for happy looking hair…. and a sweet sugary scent.

Revlon Lip Butters

“A buttery balm with beautiful shiny colour to give you baby soft, healthy glowing lips”

The texture is definitely buttery but perhaps on the slightly greesy side. They feel moisturising when you first put them on but they don’t seem to fill all the requirements of a lipstick or a lip balm. I don’t disagree that they are beautifully soft but the colour payoff isn’t great and the staying power is poor. Neither does it provide repairing ingredients or protection from the sun.

I don’t love the packaging either. It has a quilted design on two faces of the outer plastic but I think they look pretty cheap for Revlon. Certainly not in-keeping with their usual boutique branding.

 Swatched with flash.

From Left to Right: Cotton Candy, Sugar Frosting, Raspberry Pie, Pink Truffle, Creme Brûlée, Strawberry Shortcake, Cupcake, Peach Parfait.

This review may sound like a bad one but I don’t hate this product, I just had very high expectations that weren’t completely met. I expected beautiful work-safe colours that I could throw on that would leave my lips shiny and hydrated. Aesthetically the lip butters do just that but it doesn’t last longer than 10mins.

Cotton Candy: A lovely baby pink with a blue undertone.

Sugar Frosting: This is the easiest shade to wear. Practically translucent. Nice for a natural look.

Raspberry Pie: This is probably my least favourite colour. I bought this because I don’t have anything in this shade. Now I know why…. this is the wrong shade for me.

Pink Truffle: This is my second favourite shade. It’s a dusty beige pink.

Creme Brûlée: A very wearable peach beige.

Strawberry Shortcake: A very pretty pink with a bit more depth than the other shades.

Cupcake: I can barely tell the difference between this shade and Cotton Candy but I think Cotton candy has slightly better colour pay off.

Peach Parfait: This is my favourite lip butter. I love the name. The colour is an autumn peach with a slight shimmer. Also, its the shade Emma Stone models in the campaign and she looks incredible. Not sure how the sugar sticks fits in to the ad though? Thoughts?

Wax & Kohl Rating: 2/5 (Sorry Revlon. We still love you).

Sleek Face Contour Kit

I am a big fan of Sleek products. They offer quality at competitive prices. You will see more reviews to follow about their i-divine’s as they are a favourite of mine and I am regularly buying them as gifts. Today I will be reviewing this contour kit that I have purchased in ‘Light’. I do also own ‘Medium’ for when I am slightly more tanned.

This is one of my everyday go to products. I like the contemporary packaging. Sleek is a slightly edgier brand and the root always seems to be, in my opinion, quite Urban.

Some people have a problem with the highlighter being too white but this works perfectly on my pale skin. It has a slight goldness to it and reminds me a little of Nars ‘Albatross’ highlighter. Its not close enough to be dupable but its definitely a good alternative. It has quite a shine to it and some glitteryness so it might be best to pair this with a matt lipstick or shadow or you might end up looking like a glitter ball.

The contour shade is a bit muddy coloured but with a good buffing brush you can blend it in to your skin quite nicely. I would recommend using a fixing spray afterwards as you could end up with glitter on your fingers every time you touch your face.

All in all this is a bargain at £6.49. It can be purchased at or at your local Superdrug store.
